It all started in Bristol, TN, in September 1979, where we operated out of a modest 30×50 block building with just one part-time employee. Initially focused on producing aluminum side stakes and roof bows for conversion trailer side kits, our commitment to excellence quickly propelled us forward.

In 1980, we established a new plant at 2100 Industrial Blvd, enabling us to expand our operations and incorporate crucial cutting and painting processes to complete the side-kit construction. Through the dedication of our hardworking team, known as our “road warriors,” our sales began to take off.

Recognizing the needs of our customers, we forged strong relationships with trailer dealers who pointed out the demand for side kit storage racks, trailer bulkheads, and storage boxes. In response, we expanded our original building in 1986 to accommodate the production of these new products.

Building on our success, we decided in 1990 to venture into the “headache rack” business. This bold move proved a pivotal springboard for Sturdy-Lite, further cementing our reputation for innovation and reliability.

As our sales continued to surge and our products earned widespread acclaim, we embarked on a new chapter in 1998. We constructed a state-of-the-art facility with cutting-edge production equipment, fueling our capacity to deliver even more exceptional products to our valued customers. In 2023, we have almost completed another expansion that will help facilitate more growth and lower lead times for our customers. 

Today, Sturdy-Lite stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence. With a dedicated team of over 40 individuals, we proudly manufacture thousands of Cab Racks, Vaults, Toolboxes, trailer Bulkheads, and Sidekits.
